Images from a wonderful friend........

I have a friend that lives on the other side of the states from me.  We met up somewhat by accident and have never met in person, yet it feels as if we have known each other forever (to me anyhow-lol). I live in WA State and according to the cricut website that we both were members of it said she lived in Rockaway Beach. Well, there is a Rockaway Beach in Oregon and that isn't too far from me so I sent her a message. She responded and during our getting to know each other it came to light that she lives in Rockaway Beach, New York.  Dang-but I already liked her too much to say adios.
Debbie is one of the most creative, detailed and friendly people I have ever known. She goes out of her way to send me the best little surprises in the mail and she also stamps me images when I ask for something special.
So, without further ado, this card is for my New York friend Debbie. The image came from her and I got busy using my copics on it right away.  The hard part was putting it together and trying to get mine to look half as good as all her cards look. I am not sure I even got halfway BUT I am going to keep on practicing so maybe one day I can get close to being as creative as she is.
Thank you so much NY Debbie for all you do. I appreciate you!

February 24 - Snow Day

No work yesterday or today due to snow and ice and poor road conditions. I, for one, am happy about that! There is nothing better than getting a day or two at home that wasn't expected or planned. when that happens you can do anything you want :-) I am posting a card I made awhile back but was waiting to complete the embellishment on it. I added the swirls today. I am not real sure it was exactly what I wanted but all in all the card is a favorite of mine. My friend Tanya liked it so much that she said she wanted one just like it for her birthday in May. I think I will make her an even nicer one :-) Thanks for stopping by and please feel free to comment.

The past year

has been a doozie. The good news is that I made it through my daughter getting married and moving to Louisiana, another grandchild (Boston) coming into our lives, my babys senior year of high school and turning 53! I remember when I was younger and the days seemed so long-back when I was a kid that is. Then I remember when I was first married and how I couldn't wait for my kids to get a bit bigger so I could experience all that I saw was in the future.
After I divorced my first husband and remarried I started all over. But meeting Scott was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. I have learned what real love is-how to give and receive. I have slowed down and taken one day at a time. And I have learned that now the days go by ever so quickly that I feel I will run out of time before I get everything I want to accomplished.
Most of all I have learned what a true friend is. I have made some wonderful friends and I appreciate them all! I have learned how great life is. Each day is indeed a gift from God and I so happy to be living it. I am healthy and employed and happy. I don't want more than that!
I will start off by posting a card I made for my daughters 19th birthday in May. I lifted a bit of it from somewhere on the WWW (can't remember where). It was easy and simple.
May you have a happy day today and every day :-)

Baby Shower Invites

I will soon be a grandma again-this time to a little boy. How exciting is that? I have discovered that I like grandchildren a lot more than I like having my own kids-LOL Not really, but they sure are wonderful-will they be that way when they become teenagers? Here are the invitations I made for the baby shower. I will not show the inside as it has all the personal information but I used Word to write up the information and printed it out onto white cardstock. I was pleased with them. What fun it is to make cards.

Thank you for stopping by.

I finally did it!

Posted by Picasa

I finally did a Whiff of Joy card and used Copics. If my friend Debbie in New York isn't proud of me then I don't know what to say :-) This was so much fun-I think it will be my daughter Shelby's Christmas card. It reminds me of her.

Anyhow-if you like please be kind enough to leave me a comment. Maybe a few words of encouragement will get to me continue trying this technique!

Thanks for looking.

Life in the Fast Lane

My life has been a whirlwind the last couple of months. My 19 year old daughter moved back home in late June. Her fiance was in basic training at Fort Benning, GA. He came home on leave October 2, they got married October 8 and they left October 18 for his next duty station in Fort Polk, LA. They didn't have a wedding since my daughter is just like me (hehe) and does not like being the center of attention but we did have a nice reception for them on October 11. The lucky girl has been from WA to OR, to CA, to AZ, to New Mexico, to TX and is now in Oklahoma. Tomorrow they ought to get to Louisiana. I have been to WA, OR, Ca and NV-thats it. Anyhow-here is a picture of their special day. I wish them the best.
My other news is that we will be welcoming a brand new baby in the family in March and it will be a boy! My son and his wife are very happy with that news (not that they cared either way but they already have a daughter). I can't wait!

Thanks for dropping by-please feel free to leave a comment.

TGIS (Thank God it's Saturday)

OK, I know it is supposed to be TGIF but I completely missed that boat :-) My oldest is here from CA and I cooked a fantastic dinner for all my kids last night. What a great feeling it is to have them all around at once. Scottie had to go to work so he missed the majority of the evening but the rest of us ate homemade chicken cordon bleu, rice pilaf and stamed carrots. Kalli loved the carrots!
I am happy to have last week over with. It was hectic and sad and stressful. My friends mother passed away early Thursday morning. She is now at peace and I pray the family can get back to a more normal and happy routine. They have been through so much.
The funeral for my cousins husband is today. His body was located and I know that has given the family a feeling of closure in that area.
Kallis 1st birthday party is today too! I gave her the presents we bought for her last night as I know she will be really overwhelmed today with all the people and gifts. I wanted to see her enjoy what we had gotten. I bought her her first purse. She loved it! Every time it would slip off her shoulder she would come to me and I would hold the purse out. She would then stick her arm into the straps and I would get it back up on her shoulder. She looked so darn cute!!! This last year has just been amazing as a grandparent.
Here is a picture of her on her birthday taken by my oldest son, Greg.
I hope each and every one of you has a great weekend.
